The Clean Propulsion Technologies project is on display at SAE Powertrains, Fuels & Lubricants Conference & Exhibition

Category

The SAE 2022 Powertrains, Fuels & Lubricants Conference & Exhibition (PF&L) brings together engineers, developers, and researchers from around the globe for an open forum of knowledge sharing. It’s where you’ll hear about and discuss applications of efficient, environmentally sustainable propulsion/powertrain technologies—from those studying them and those using them. It’s where you’ll learn about the latest findings in electrification, engine design, fuels, lubricants, combustion, and emissions control for the light-, medium-, and heavy-duty segments. And it’s through these conversations where more progress can be made related to cutting-edge propulsion/powertrain, fuels, and emissions-reduction. The conference will be organized in Krakow, Poland on September 6-8, 2022. It is one of the most significant conferences in the world on the powertrain domain.

Three Clean Propulsion Technologies (CPT) project-related papers are presented at the conference. In addition, CPT project’s Steering Group member Christer Wik, Wärtsilä Finland Oy presents his keynote speech “Future Fuels for ICE’s” at the session titled Alternative Fuels and Additive Effects Part 3 on the 8th of September at 9:30 a.m.

Paper “Emission Performance of Closed-Coupled SCR Catalysts To Be Applied for Double-SCR Systems” will be presented at the session titled Exhaust Emission Control Systems on the 6th of September at 1:30 p.m. The paper is written by Kati Lehtoranta, Hannu Vesala, Päivi Koponen, VTT Technical Research Centre Of Finland; Teuvo Maunula, Dinex Finland Oy; Matti Happonen, AGCO Sisu Power Oy. The paper is part of work done in CPT work package 3” Novel combustion and advanced aftertreatment”.

Paper “Towards Next Generation Control-Oriented Thermo-Kinetic Model for Reactivity Controlled Compression Ignition Marine Engines” is presented at the session titled O-D and 1-D Modeling and Numerics on the 7th of September at 9:30 a.m. The paper is written by Aneesh Vasudev, University of Vaasa; Alberto Cafari, Martin Axelsson, Wärtsilä Finland Oy; Maciej Mikulski, University of Vaasa, VEBIC; Jari Hyvönen, Wärtsilä Finland Oy. The paper is part of work done in CPT work package 3 ”Novel combustion and advanced aftertreatment”.

Paper “A Neural Network Approach for Reconstructing In-cylinder Pressure from Engine Vibration Data” is presented at the session titled O-D and 1-D Modeling and Numerics on September 7th” at 10:30 a.m. The paper is written by Hoang Khac Nguyen, Amin Modabberian, Kai Zenger, Aalto University; Éric Lendormy, Marine Solution Engines, Wärtsilä; Maciej Mikulski, University of Vaasa; Jacek Hunicz, Lublin University of Technology.  The paper is part of the work done in CPT work package 2 “Virtual sensors and control”.

Clean Propulsion Technologies project’s Advisory Board chairman Piotr Bielaczyc acts as a General Chairman of the conference.  Project Leader Maciej Mikulski has a strong presence at the conference by organizing and moderating some of the sessions.
